    Writing Prompt #969

Desperate for tuition money, you stumble upon a flyer for a drug trial. Three weeks, easy money. Most likely you will get the placebo anyway, but even if you don’t, there shouldn’t be any lasting effects. Unfortunately, they lied. You wake up, but you aren’t you anymore. Given your new shapeshifting abilities, the scientists who administered the drug trial perform experiment after experiment to see just how far your powers can go. Desperate to escape, you enlist the help of another captive with similar abilities. You find that you can speak telepathically to her, and together you plot your escape. As you work together, you discover there is more to her than meets the eye. Her father, a magical shaman from a far-away land, is behind the development of the drug. Now you have to decide if the woman you’ve fallen for is to be trusted or will eventually betray you.

What am I going to do? Sophia is a strong woman. I just don’t know that I can trust her, after all her father is the one behind this fucked up trial. She flat out stated that she understood his need to find out if there is someway to share the magic that they have with others, that was until he turned his research onto her. How can I trust her after she told me that?

‟Jack? Why did you pull away?” She asks looking over towards me. How do I answer that?

‟I’m needing time to think. I want to make sure that we get out of this place, with most of our faculty intact.” I say back to her. It isn’t a lie but it’s the complete truth.

‟Is that all?” She asks sounding like she is unsure.

‟Yeah, that’s all.” I lie. A feeling of sadness washes over me.

‟Okay.” She says. She takes a deep breath ‟I miss my family before this obsession took my loving family.” She says.

‟How different was your family before?” I ask. I hear her sniffle.

‟My dad use to care about people, but as the power within me started growing, he started to push me.” She stops for a minute. The silence sounds like this is very painful to remember. ‟Which caused my mother to get pissed at him. I would come home from the training covered in blood. With my dad pushing me, it would cause my nose to blood, but he didn’t care. Sadly, I got to watch his decline into madness. I because a test subject instead of his only child.” I hear her let out a sob. I don’t know how to help her while we are stuck in these damn cages.

    Writing Prompt #1,260

You feel like your coven has held you back your entire life, expecting you to follow rule after rule. It has never made any sense to you why witches, with all their power, go out of their way to repress it. That isn’t how you want to live your life. You want power and to use your magic whenever and wherever you choose. One night, while the coven is out celebrating the sabbat beneath the full moon, you make your escape and head far away to the first bustling city you find. Right away you use your magic to extort every elected official you encounter, going unchallenged every step along the way. Within five years, you’ve used your magic to be elected mayor, with everyone of importance in your pocket. Life is perfect. Then one day you receive a letter in the mail, the words spelled out with letters cut out from magazines. The letter is blackmailing you over your witchcraft. Someone knows of your dark secret and wants to be paid off. Furious, you try to use your magic to discover who sent it, but you can’t, which makes you realize someone possessing magic must be the culprit. Immediately you suspect your coven. Who else can possibly know enough to attempt to blackmail you? But you need more evidence. You hire an attractive private investigator to work the case, someone who knows about your kind and can get to the bottom of any situation. But what he uncovers is more than you bargained for.

I walk up to Mose Locater. I heir this guy to help me find my stalker. Through I don’t think he is going to find anything. I haven’t been able to find anything with my magic. But none the less I have to try it. ‟Okay, please tell me you found something about my family?” I ask Jake, the private investigator.

‟Sophia, your not really a witch.” He says flipping open the folder on the desk. ‟You’re a angel.”

‟I didn’t come to you for you to look into me!” I snap at him. ‟Also, If I’m an angle why don’t I have wings then?” I ask him. ‟Angles are elegant. I’m far from elegant! Even with all the training I’ve had.”

‟Well, I was looking for your stalker and then came across something that I couldn’t pass up looking more into. So, here’s the thing. You’ve be cursed. Your angle abilities have been locked away. You able to use magic but your not as powerful as you can be.” He says reading over a piece of paper.

‟How do I break the curse?” I say folding my hands in my lap. Something’s not right here. Why is he pushing this and not looking into my stalker.

    Writing Prompt #1,138

You are a shy 17-year-old girl who spends most of her time online, particularly in VR chat rooms, where you find it easier to make friends. You are excited about Knight’s Brawl, a VR game you’ve been waiting to play for months. The game allows you to explore an open world full of dragons and fantasy creatures and travel to different arenas to compete against other players. When someone in your online group chat offers you an exclusive beta-testing code, you jump at the opportunity. You boot up the game, and everything looks incredibly realistic. You swear you can even smell your surroundings. But when you enter your first battle and actually feel each blow, you know something is wrong. Only then do you realize that you are no longer playing the game, but are in it, and you — like the others trapped in the beta — have to fight your way to the top of the leaderboard if you want to escape.

“Mouse!” Someone yells from behind me. I quickly turn around and see TamEevee running towards me. ‟Help me!” I look past her and see three males chasing her. When she gets to me, I push her behind me and put myself in between her and the three males.

‟Whoa, what lets talk this out.” I say holding up both my hands. The male in the lead stops just in front of me.
‟She needs to pay for her discretions.” He growls.

‟What did she do?” I ask looking him in the eye.

‟She keep picking a fight and then hiding. She needs to finish what she started.” The male behind him says puffing out his chest.

‟Are you sure, she was the one picking a fight?” I ask letting the truth magic flow into my words. The male fights my magic but isn’t strong enough.

‟She would let take her out for dinner. She said I wasn’t worth her time.” He growls out and the other two males turn and look at the male.

‟You mean to tell me, all she did was turn you down?” The first male growls. ‟Jurl, answer me.”

‟Yes.” Jurl looks down at the ground. ‟She’s been flirting with me for the last three weeks. When I finally ask her out she turns me down! How dare she?” TamEevee squeaks.

‟I wasn’t flirting with you, dumbass.” She says.

‟You.” Jurl growls and tries to lung for her but the first male stops him.

‟I’m truly sorry for my dumbass friend. I’ll make sure he stays in line from here on out.” He says the last part glaring at Jurl.

    Writing Prompt #1,056

Against your wishes, your father has sent you off to an all-girls boarding school in a remote part of the Midwest after moving for his job. You attend your classes and make a few friends, but one group of girls in particular strike you as odd. One night you see them silently sneak into the woods and decide to follow. You find them dancing around a small bonfire, singing in harmony. In the flames, you see the outlines of horses flickering, and within moments, real horses burst out of the flames. The girls mount them with glee and ride off into the forest. The next day you confront them about it and learn that they have been practicing magic from an old book in the library. You join in on the fun, but when you learn the origins of the book and the darkness that seeks to take it back, it is up to you to protect the book, your friends, and the school itself.

“Sage” Jade runs up to me. I turn around just in time to catch Jade in my arms. She may be the same age as me but she doesn’t look it. She has pink shoulder length hair, green eyes, pale skin and stand at a tall 4’3”. She is also the most energetic of us all. Following closely behind her I see Carly, who has a blonde pixie cut, with brown eyes, slightly tanned skin and stands at an even 5 foot. These two are never far apart. If you ever see Carly then Jade is withing 5 feet. They look nothing alike but they are siblings.

“Have you seen, Sophie, yet?” Carly asks and I shake my head.

“I just got down here as well. What’s going on?” I ask.

“Sophie, mom showed up this morning. She sounded pissed.” Jade says finally letting go of me. “She was yelling and it sounded like somethings where throw.” Worry makes my heart ache. Sophie’s mom is on the school board. I look down at Jade.

“What was she yelling about this time?” I ask Jade. Carly gives Jade a glare most likely trying to tell her sister to shut the fuck up. But Jade never listens.

“She was yelling about our club.” Due to the schools rules we have to be apart of a after school club. It was my idea to make a club called Blackwooden books. A play on the coven name we picked and the spell book. “She sounded very pissed that she joined our club and not a ‘normal’ club.”

“Jade.” Carly hisses and Jade rolls her eyes.

“Sage, should know about it.” Jade says

“It’s not our place to tell her.” Carly says and my heart plummets.

“Tell me what?” I ask and Carly sighs.

“Sophie’s mom is going to make her drop from the club.” Jade says.

“But the school will fail her for this quarter for dropping out of a club, this last into the quarter.” I say looking around trying to find Sophie. I spot Jazmen, Sophie’s roommate. I wave at her for to come over, as she makes her way over I notice a few other students watching her.

Sadly the time got away from me again. I need to figure out how to get what’s in my head out into writing without focusing so hard on the spelling part of it. As always thank you guys for taking the time to read this.

    Writing Prompt #1,156

Your father is a successful billionaire. For years his company has been on the forefront of technological innovation, always one step ahead of the competition. Unbeknownst to the public, his tech is derived with the help of sorcery. But he’s not the only one who uses magic to get ahead. Your entire family is wealthy due to the assistance of the arcane, and you are even a bit of a celebrity because of this wealth. When it comes time to marry, your family expects it to be to a man of equal wealth and success. You, on the other hand, have found love in someone quite the opposite. He is humble and kind — a genius in his own right — but dirt poor. When your father finds out about your beloved, he becomes so furious that he turns the young man into a frog. The curse, he tells you, can only be broken by a princess. He explains that you can be that princess if you marry a Hollywood movie mogul who happens to have relations to royalty. You must make a choice: stay with your newly croaking beau and endure a lifetime of a slimy curse, or free him by breaking both of your hearts.

“HOW COULD YOU?” I scream as I storm into my father’s office. I wipe at the tears rolling down my face. “You turned him into a frog!” My father just smiles at me.

“I told you what would happen if you kept seeing” He takes a breathe. “that man.” He says with disgust. I growl at him.

“You cursed him because he is a better man than you’ve ever been!” I yell and he jumps up from his seat.

“You will not talk to me that way, young lady.” He growls at me as he starts walking towards. “I’ve worked hard to make our family what it is today. You will show me the respect I desrive.” He finally is standing in front of me. The smirk that slides onto his face makes my stomic drop. “The only way you can free him from the spell is by falling in love with a prince.” He says crossing his arms over his chest. I don’t believe him.

“I don’t believe that’s all there is to break the curse.” I say standing tall. The smirk turns into a full smile.

“You are learning. Your right through, there is more to break the curse. You need to marry the prince.”

“You want me to break his heart?” I ask dumbfounded. “Along with my heart?” He looks me up and down.

“Your heart will heal. I don’t give a shit about his.” He says with a shrug. “I’m only worried about how my family is taken care of.”

“He takes care of me. I don’t even know this prince, you speak of.” I say.

“He may have taken care of some of your needs but you’ve grown up with luxury and he would never be able to support that. You know that. It also doesn’t matter that you don’t know Prince James.”

Sadly the time got away from me with this one. Thank you guys for taking the time to read this.
