    Writing Prompt #918

    As a fairy, you live in a hidden kingdom deep within woods. Most of your kind grow wings when they reach puberty. However, yours never grew. Now 20 years old, you are shunned by both family and friends. You watch sadly as the rest of your generation takes flight and chooses their mates while you are left on the ground, with no one to share your heart. Dismayed, you leave the kingdom and go elsewhere, hoping to find a wingless mate who will accept you. While on your search, you find a fairy who lost one of his wings during a battle. You aren’t sure how he feels, but you instantly fall for him.

    It’s been three months since my generation found their mates. No one wanted to mate with me because my wings never grew. When there was only male that didn’t find a mate. King James went over to him and asked if he was willing to mate with me. He looked me up and down. A look of distaste came over his face and he shook his head. “I would rather be mateless.” The male says and King James, nods. After hearing him says that I walked away from the party. I left the kingdom and haven’t looked back. I found myself laying down up against the trunk of huge tree.

    I hear a male says. “Fucking hell!” and then a thud. I scramble up from the ground and around the tree. I see a male fairy crumpled on the ground. I get over to him and help him get to a sitting position. “Who are?” He asks sounding dazed. I don’t answer him because I’m staring at his one wing. I hear him groan and that pulls me back into my body. “Who?” He asks again then passes out. I’m the one to groan this time. I was planning on moving today. Guess that’s not happening. I plop down on the ground next to him. Before I knew it, I feel asleep.

    I slowly wake up to someone brushing hair off my face. I hear a male voice say “Dear God, she is a beautiful Madam.” I open my eyes and see bright green staring back at me. I squeal and try to back away from him but I’m stuck between him and the fucking tree. “I’m not going to hurt you.” He rushes out while slowly backing away from me. He takes 4 steps back and just stands there. As I am freaking out I notice that he only has one wing. That pulls me from my freak out.

    “What happened to you?” I blurt out.

    He chuckles and sits down in the spot he stopped at. “I could ask you the same thing.” He says back. “But I lost my wing in the last battle of Fae. What happened to you?” He asks.

    “Mine never grew.” I mumble out. He moves scoots closer.

    “What? I didn’t hear you.” He says as he is right in front of me again.

    “They never.” I trail off not looking at him.

    “You can tell me. I won’t judge you.” He says reaching out and running a thumb long my cheek.

    “They haven’t grown yet.” I say and he wipes his thumb along my cheek again.

    “That’s okay.” He says. “No need to cry. In my kingdom, those without wings are held just as high as the king and queen.” I quickly look at him with shock.

    “Really? I’m an outcast in my kingdom.” I ask.

    Writing Prompt #1310

    You can communicate telepathically with animals. It’s a superpower you’ve had your entire life, one that your parents initially thought was just the result of an overactive imagination. Your sister is insanely jealous of your superpowers. Despite this, you both have gotten along fine over the years, growing up with little to no issues with each other. One day while walking in the forest, a random squirrel tells you that people have been going missing over the last few weeks. You ask other creatures in the forest, and they all tell you that something big is coming. “The forest is dying,” they tell you. “The monster is here.” You investigate further, asking more questions of the local animals. Eventually, they lead you to the edge of the forest and a construction site where scientists and workers alike congregate over the deepest hole you’ve ever seen. They leave for the night, but before you can make your way over, you see something crawling its way out. It is large and monstrous. As you watch, it shifts form — from animal to bird and finally settling on a human form. You then realize that it is your sister. Jealous of your abilities, she struck a deal with an entity that fed on her envy, gaining the ability to shapeshift. But this power is slowly killing her. You now have to find a way to free your sister from this creature’s influence before it is too late.

    “God Damn it, Skye! What did you do to get your powers?” My older sister, Sage, snaps at me.
    Her words constantly replaying in my head as I’m walking through the forest behind our family house. Why did I get a power and she didn’t? What different about me? Throughout my family history it’s always been the first born girl that gets one or more types of powers. For some reason, the goddess chose not to give my sister any powers. My mother, Sophie, has prayed about it but all she got back was something vague about Sage’s future. The thing is she never told me she was jealous that I had gotten the power to telepathically communicate with animals. Well, that was until last night when she came home drunk off her ass.

    ‘Skye!’ A higher-than-normal voice yells in my head. I look around and see a squirrel flying towards me. I smile and reach up catching the little squirrel. Racer is the name of this little squirrel. ‘Are you here to help find the missing people?’ He asks

    ‘Missing people?’ I ask confused. Racer nods.

    ‘They’ve been going missing over the last few weeks.’ He says as he nuzzles my chin.

    ‘I’ll try my best to help find them.’ I say.

    ‘Okay, I hope you find them. I’ll see you later. My mom wants me home before dark.’ Racer climbs onto my shoulder then takes off. I started walking my path again. I then come across a little baby deer and their mother.

    ‘Can I ask you guys a question?’ I ask them and they look up at me.

    ‘Sure. What’s up?’ the mother asks.

    ‘Do you guys know what’s going on around the forest?’ I ask and the baby deer backs away from me the mother deer looks down at the ground.

    ‘There’s something big coming. Our family is getting ready to leave the forest. It’ll be dead in less than a year if nothing changes.’ She says.

    ‘Mom! The monster is coming.’ The little deer yells and takes off running away from me.

    ‘What monster?’ I ask the mother before she can follow after her young.
    ‘Follow the broken trees and you’ll find it.’ She says and runs after the young. I do as she said to do. I eventually, find a construction site. I notice a few people in white lab coats standing around a hole. I sit down just inside the forest, hidden from the other but still can see what’s going on.

    Writing Prompt #794

    Something about the new guy in school intrigues you. A loner yourself, you can’t fight the magnetic draw you feel to him whenever you lock eyes. One rainy night, while driving home, lightning pierces the sky, enveloping the new guy as he stands on a hill. Worried that he may be hurt, you race up the hill to find his body crackling with electricity. He is overcome with emotion and reveals that he is a Nephilim. The reason you feel connected to him is because you have loved each other for years. His father, the God of all Gods, wiped your memory to keep you apart because it is prophesied that together you will have a powerful child who will rule the Heavens.

    I groan inwards as I realize that I’ve been staring at Xavier again. I can’t even believe that this new guy has captured my attention so thoroughly that everything just fades away into the background. I throw my head backwards in frustration as the bell rings signaling the end of Math class. I slowly pack up all my stuff. “Miss. Moore, can you please come to my desk?” Mrs. Fan asks looking over at me. I groan again. I stand up leaving my stuff at my desk.

    “How can I help you?” I ask as I get to her desk.

    “What’s been going on? You’ve never been this distracted, before.” She say showing me the test from yesterday. She raises her hand to stop me as I open my mouth to talk. “Yes, you normally don’t talk in class, you also don’t do well in groups but you’ve never gotten anything less than a B on any test.” She shows me the test again. A big red F was at the top of the paper. “You failed this last test. What’s going on?” She asks again.

    “I don’t know.” I told her honestly. “I will do better.”

    “You know you can talk to me about anything that’s going on. You know that right?” She says. She wouldn’t understand what I am going through. I was abounded at the age of 5. I don’t remember anything before the age of 5. I didn’t even have anything to take to the first foster home. I was found just outside the forest with nothing. I didn’t even have clothes on. She wouldn’t understand what I go through on any given day. But none the less, I nod at her.

    “Am I free to go?” I ask trying to hide the anger that was slowly taking over me. She sighs but nods. I turn back towards my desk.

    “I’m going to let you make up the test tomorrow during lunch.” She says I hear her push her chair back and the creak of her chair. I grab my things and rush out the door before she can say anything. I make it to the front doors. Fucking hell, I want to scream. It’s pouring down rain. I look around and see no one. Fucking hell. I need to get the house. I have to cook dinner. I rush out into the storm and it takes me less than two minutes to get to Sophia’s, My foster sister, old car. Once I get into the car, it dawns on me that I have to stop by the store. We don’t have anything for me to cook.

    “Fucking hell!” I say smacking the steering wheel. “I just want to be good enough.” I turn on the car and head towards the store. Once at the store I rush inside.

    “Hello, Ma’am” a young lady says to me as I rush by her. I spend three hours shopping. By time I was done shopping the storm has calmed just a little bit. Enough for me to get the groceries out to the car barely getting wet. As I drive home passing the forest that I was found at. I notice Xavier walking towards a hill. The Lighting lighting up the sky and the thunder rolls. The next thing I know lightning pierces the sky, enveloping Xavier. I slam on my breaks the car sliding a little bit before coming to a full stop. I burst out of the car and just make it up the hill as my legs give out. I look up at Xavier. The electricity is crackling around his hold body. “What? What just happened?” I stammer out.

    “Mi Amore.” Xavier says leaning down in front of me. “You finally notice me.” He says reaching out. The electricity envelopments me. I feel warm and loved. “Thank the gods. Well, not my padre.” His hand is on my check.

    “What are you?” I force out.

    “I’m a Nephilim. You, my love, are one as well. Come back to me.” He says kissing my forehead. “Your mine.” He says. “Now remember.” He whispers. As the words leave his lips, memories take over my mind. His father yelling at us because we were prophesied to make a child who will be the one to save the heavens and rule it. Due to both Xavier and I refusing to stop seeing each other, his father said then I have no choice. He reached for me and then everything goes black. Then I woke up at the edge of the forest.

    “I’m yours.” I hear before everything goes black.

    Writing Prompt #864

    Raised in an orphanage, you know nothing of your magical heritage. However, when you reached the age of maturity, you discovered that you possessed the powers of both the light and the dark. You don’t know how your dark powers came to be, but they could get you killed by the magical enforcers: a group sworn to remove black magic from the world. That’s why you fled the orphanage in the dead of night and never looked back. You survived on the streets, using your wit and your grit as well as a little bit of your dark powers, but only when absolutely necessary. Now an adult, you still remain in the shadows, keeping to yourself. One fateful night you stumble across an attempted murder. You refuse to watch an innocent man be killed. With no choice but to use your dark powers, you save his life. Little do you know that the handsome man you saved is, in fact, a magical enforcer.

    “I’m going to finish you off.” I hear a male growl. Is he talking to me? I quickly look around. I spot two men fighting in the alleyway to my left. One of them with reddish blonde hair. The other one has dark brown. “You can’t take me.” I hear the same voice say as I see the male with the reddish blonde hair collapse to the ground. Before I even know what I am doing, I yell into the Alleyway.

    “Hey, Asshat.” The dark brown haired male turn towards me. He eyes me up and down then turn back towards the male on the ground. I growl at being dismissed so easily. Before I can over think it, I’m storming my way down the alleyway. “How dare you try and kill an innocent man.” I snap at the male pulling on my dark magic. The male turns back towards me with a sly smirk.

    “What are you going to do to stop me?” He says mockingly as he lifts a finger and points it towards me. I feel a ball of light heading towards but my dark magic protects me without even a thought.

    “This is what I’m going to do about it.” I say as I pull a little more on my dark magic and fling a little bit back at him. It’s not enough to kill him but enough to show him not to under estimate me. Once the dark magic hits him he looks stunned, then he does another look over me. He turns and takes off running. He’s out the other side before I’m even able to do anything. I rush over to the male on the ground. I fall to the ground next to him. He’s still breathing which is a good thing. I place my hands on his chest and pull on my light magic. I push it into him to heal him. As soon as I pull my hands back the male sits up and his fists fly up to protect his face.

    “Where did the magic user go?” The male ask looking around the alleyway. His fists slowly lower to his side. “Fuck, he got away.” He hangs his head. “The magical enforcement is going to tan my hide.” Oh fuck, did I just save an enforcer? I slowly back away from him. He finally turns and looks at me.

    “Please don’t kill me.” I whimper out.

    Writing Prompt #874

    On your eighteenth birthday, you notice unexplainable things happening around you. Objects seem to move if you squint at them. Faint, golden sparks seem to shoot from your fingertips. Dreams of a handsome stranger with violet eyes plague you at night. At first, you chalk it all up to your imagination, but a week after your birthday, the mysterious stranger from your dreams approaches you and reveals that you are a high-born fairy who was hidden in the human world as a baby for your protection. You are now coming into a powerful arsenal of magic and are destined to be the ruler of a fairy kingdom that will fall apart if you continue residing in the human world.

    “Aurora,” my mother says in a sing song voice as she comes bouncing into my bedroom. “Happy Birthday, my beautiful girl.” She says pulling off my blankets. I groan and roll over trying to find warmth to stay asleep. “Come on. I know mornings aren’t your thing, but Your father and I made you breakfast.” She says as she sits on my bed next to me.

    “I don’t wanna get up,” I whine trying to push her off my bed. “It’s my birthday. I should be able to sleep in.” I grumble when she doesn’t budge. Her laugh rings out throughout the room. “Mom.” I whine again.

    “My baby girl is 18 years old today.” My dad says coming into my room and I groan louder. “Come on. Your breakfast is getting cold.” He says and my mom giggles. I look over at him and see a little bit of baking flower on his face. I burst out laughing. “What’s so funny?” He asks.

    “You have baking flower on your face.” I say while laughing and pointing at his head. He starts laughing along with us.

    “I’m going to miss this.” My mother says wiping tears from her face.

    “What are you going to miss?” I ask after catching my breath.

    “You’re leaving for collage next week.” My father says. “You’re basically moving out on your own.” He looks over at my mother with a sad look. “We want you to go to college at the same time we don’t want our baby girl to leave the nest.” He explains.

    “Alright, enough sad things for now. Let’s celebrate.” My mother says standing up from my bed. “Let’s go.” She says grabbing my hand and almost pulling me off my comfy bed.

    “Okay. Okay. Can I get dressed?” I ask looking down at my tank top and shorts. I look back up at my parents and see my mother shaking her head. “What? Why not?” I ask.

    “Because you’ll take forever and then you won’t eat anything.” My mother says. “Now, come on.” She waves for me to follow them. I groan but none the less follow her.

    I wish I could freeze this and make it last forever. As soon as that goes through my head everything around me freezes. I bump into my father, but he doesn’t move. “What the fuck?” I say as I move in front of them and wave my hands in their faces. “What just happened?” I panic. “Mom, Dad.” I barely squeak out as the panic starts taking over. What did I do? Did I do this? How do I fix this? I want them to be able to move. Just as that flies through my head. They move forward. As they move forward, they bump into me making me fall onto my ass. They look down at me.

    “How did you get in front of us?” My mother asks as my father extends his hand out to help me up.

    “I have no idea.” I say as I let my father pull me up from the ground. “Let’s get this day going.” I say faking excitement. I don’t think that I can tell them what really happened. Why do I feel like I can’t tell them? I’ve never kept anything from them. Why do I feel like I need to start hiding anything now?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It’s been five days since my 18th birthday. I’ve had things fly towards me when I squint at the item. If I get overly emotional (any emotion) golden like sparks fly from my fingertips. The most unexplainable then is my dreams. I keep dreaming of a handsome man with violet eyes, reaching out for me. He says “Princess, it’s almost time for you to come home.” Once he is standing in front of me, he says, “I’ll come and get you when it’s safe.” Then I wake up. I’ve been having this damn dream every night since my birthday. I leave for collage tomorrow. My mother has been fretting over everything that I’ve packed. Every time she frets, I try to calm her down, but it never works. I’m laying down on my bed just staring at the stars on my ceiling. I sigh as I hear footsteps coming towards my room. “Aurora.” My mother says knocking on my door. “Can I come in?” She asks.
    “Sure.” I say sitting up. “What’s up, mom?” She just looks at me.
    “You know your where adopted, right?” She asks looking down at her hands.
    “Yes, why?” I say. It was kind of hard not the know that when I look so different from them.
    “Well, the college you are heading to is in the town we found you.” She says while ringing her hands. I stand up and make my way over to her through all the boxes.
    “You know that I love you. You’re always going to be my mother.” I say as I pull her into a hug. She starts sobbing. Now, I know why she has been fretting over everything. She feels out of control. “I will always love you. No need to worry about that.” I pull back and look at her with a smile. “Now worrying if I pass all my classes is completely different. That’s one I would recommend you worrying about.” I joke and she laughs through the tears. “Now, I need to get to bed. I got a long drive tomorrow. I love you.” I say to her as I turn to make my back through the boxes.
    “I love you too. Sleep well, I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” She says shutting my door. I hear her retreat towards her room. As I lay down on my bed I fall into a restless sleep. Dreaming of this man.
