  • I need to state before getting into this review that I was given this book through Booksprout. Now that has been stated, I can now get into the book review. There are going to be spoilers in this review.

This book is a short read. Though it has a lot of content within it. This book mainly follows Helen and her Fiance, Ben. They are in the process of planning their wedding when Helen starts noticing that she is attracted to their wedding photographer. She is friends with a women who just opened her relationship, polyamory. At the start of the story Helen doesn’t agree with the polyamory lifestyle, though she supports her friend, she didn’t think that that was for her. When she talks to her friend she makes a statement that I agree with. “If you want more then ask for more!” She does this. She talks to Ben and he isn’t exactly on board with the idea of opening their relationship. I feel like he panics at her suggestion of it. I feel like her asking for it (Which I agree with her doing) made him doubt her feelings for him. Which leans to his panic. I understand his panic and needing time to think about it. I don’t like that he distant himself from her in the time he is taking to think about it. After visiting and helping take care of his grandma, he comes around to the idea. So, they sit down and come up with rules. I do not agree with one of the rules that they set, though I don’t get to see how the rules end up playing out because that’s in the next book. The rule that I don’t like or agree with is “not falling in love”. While on paper that’s an easy rule to follow but in practice it not that easy.

While I am wondering how their rules with play out, I’m not going to be reading the next book. The story isn’t something that I feel the need to keep reading about. It’s a good book, I’m just not that into it.

Now for the star ratings I’m giving this book.
I’m giving this book an overall rating of 4.5 of out of 5 stars.
The story is getting a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
The writing style is getting a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
The spicy level is getting a rating of 1out of 5 stars.

There is some talk about spice but nothing more than that. There’s no fade to black or off page, there is a mention of spice but nothing else on that front.

This story follows Vivian Callaro and Rafael Moresco. Rafeal believes the Vivian is the key to finding out who hired a hit man to kill his father three years ago. She just lost her father and Rafael thinks the same person hired a hit man to kill his father is the same person who hired a hit man to kill her father. He happens to be right but while he plans on using her as leverage. While they are “working” together, he starts falling for her. She falls for him as well but I wounder if they have had a crush on each other from a distant. While they are forcing out the rat within His org, the find out someone has been pulling the strings behind the scene. I’m trying to be vague and not give so much details. This is a good book and I want people to read it. I ready love the banter between these two and their unwillingness to let the other put their life in danger for the other.

  • So, when I’m reading any book I have thoughts that don’t make it into the book review that I write about said book. Would you guys like to know those thoughts? If so, would you like it to be in the same post (at the end hidden by a drop down thing [yeah I know very descriptive . I just can’t think of the word and if I don’t post this soon, I most likely won’t post it. I’ll overthink it.]) or would you want it in its own post?

Also would you guys like me making like a review art? Like it has the title; author; format (physical; audiobook [normal or graphic audio]; ebook); page numbers(if physical or ebook); starting and ending reading dates; spooky level; spice level; my enjoyment level; overall rating; and like one or two quotes. Long with the written review?

I want to make my post seem more personal and relatable, while still providing the book reviews. Let me know down in the comments about what you’d like to see in regard to the book reviews. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a wonderful day.

Patrick, The MMC, is the head of the Boston Unusualities Society, is asked to come mentor a rogue nest of teen fanglings. These fanglings where turned by a ghoul. Patrick has been tasked with trying to figure out how and why these teens where turned. While he is staying in the village of ashbourne he must train them to control their overwhelming powers and get them ready for the vampire society. If he fails the Queen of all vampires, Madame Laveau will take care of them herself. He is forced to work with Rye Amato. She is a lawyer, who has gained the respect of the fanglings. Since she walked into the hotel, Patrick has had a hard time not fixating on her. While he is unearthing the strangeness that is hidden with in the village of Ashbourne he is unable to focus on them because of Rye’s entrancing beauty. With the unknown deadline fastly approaching, Patrick is trying to figure out if he should follow his heart or his duty. Truthfully, he wants to find away to follow both.

Rye, The FMC, is a strong human Lawyer, has been asked to help train the fanglings and as well as find out what’s different about this village. She is also drawn to this brooding, grumpy vampire. While, he is throwing his weight around, she holds her ground and doesn’t bend under his pressure. She has gained the respect of the fanglings and they go to her when they are having issues. She may not be vampire but she is closest thing to them.

While they are trying to figure out what’s going on they find someone, who is someone important in the village, that can withstand completions. We don’t find out much about the town or the fanglings because the book is mainly focused on the building tension between these two. I enjoyed the spiciness and the build-up to the spice. I can’t wait to find out more about the fanglings and what’s up with this damn village.

I listened to this book on Audible. It was a short listen, lasting 3 hours and 13 minutes. Which I think lends to the issue that this book feels rushed. I enjoy reading Fantasy. Truthfully, it feels like three stories mashed into one book.

The production of this book is good, but the story fell flat. There was so much going on that it was hard to keep up with. The book has likable characters and a good story. I just wish that the story were longer and into more parts.

There isn’t much I can say about this book.
